Update 1.8 Patch Notes

December 1, 2025

Update 1.8 will be available for troopers to download at 10 AM PT (GMT-7) today December 1st, 2025.

This patch is a collection of content, performance, and optimization improvements and bug fixes. If you'd like to discuss Update 1.8 with your fellow troopers, please feel free to join the Starship Troopers: Extermination Community Discord!

Server Performance Improvements

  • Bug holes won’t consume CPU time checking for replicated attributes when they are not active.
  • Optimized hives when they become inactive/destroyed.
  • Dynamic level assets shouldn’t consume CPU cycles to update on the server.

New Critical Strike

Troopers will now be able to venture on a new Critical Strike as we bring the fight to the frosty planet of Boreas! Do us proud troopers!

TAC Fighter Strikes

Danger Close Troopers! Federation Fleet Command has dramatically improved their combat support packages to enable more Close Air Support missions for embattled MI units. These fleet assets are able to maintain a steady bombardment of the battlefield.

Keep your eyes peeled for the ‘TAC Fighter Support’ Mutator on Valaka, Agni Prime, and Boreas missions.

Fleet Relay

In some challenging planetary conditions, the Fleet may need additional guidance and support from ground forces. A Fleet Relay will need to be constructed on the battlefield to coordinate strikes. Once constructed, a small detachment of Troopers will need to be committed to keeping the Relay protected! As long as the Relay remains operational, TAC Fighter strafing runs will periodically bombard the battlefield.

Stay vigilant, and watch for the ‘Fleet Relay’ Mutator on Valaka, Agni Prime, and Boreas missions.

Company Progression

Trooper Companies will now be able to earn levels and unlocks. Each member will now earn Company XP with every Federation victory.

  • Company XP is earned by successful completion (Victory) of any standard Mission or Galactic Front Operation.
  • Company XP is earned per member, so multiple Company members can earn XP while playing together.

Limit Increases

Leveling up a Company will enable higher member capacity. Once unlocked, Officers can increase the member limit in the ‘Edit Company’ screen.

Company Emblems

Officers can add additional flair to their Company with a customized Emblem. Choose between a base Icon and add a frame if desired. Customize your emblems to attract new members, strike fear into your competition, or just show off your Company’s prestige.

Quality-of-Life

Clear Notification Badges

Added a button in the Settings to allow Troopers to delete their pending Notifications (The green hexagons). As well, additional work has been done to help prevent the improper creation of new notifications that could not be properly cleared.

  • The button is located in ‘Settings’ → ‘Gameplay’ → ‘Gameplay – Clear Notification Badges’

Loadout Customization & Loadout Select

We have made a pass to improve usability and functionality of the Loadout Customization & Loadout Select screens. These improvements are primarily intended to clean up some pain points experienced when selecting a Loadout before a mission.

  • Added tooltips during Loadout Select – Troopers can see what weapons, utilities and perks are equipped. This removes the guesswork from remembering how each of your Loadouts have been configured.
  • Added tooltips for Weapon Modifications – Troopers can now see what Modifications are equipped on their weapons during Loadout Select before a mission or during Loadout Customization before

Vanguard and Federation Armory Tuning

Combat Stim Fabricator

Fabricators have been repainted in more diverse color schemes for improved battlefield identification, reducing instances of accidentally grabbing the unintended flavor of Stims.

  • Combat Stim Fabricators have a new orange color scheme.

Lure Grenades & Nuclear Det Pack

The feeble intelligence of the larger Arachnid forms may have finally discerned the difference between food, and holograms of food.

  • Scorpions bugs are less likely to target Lure Grenades & Nuclear Det Packs.

Scan Grenades, Scan Beacons & Scan Pistol

Federation engineers have been sent to mandatory arithmetic retraining camps. System-level updates to scanner protocols will enable more consistent tabulation for numbers of bugs scanned.

  • Increased XP of 'Scanning' from 2 XP per 5 Bugs → 1 XP per Bug
  • Galactic Front Objectives will now count numbers of bugs scanned, instead of the number of instances of the XP earned.

Spotter Training

Specially trained Snipers may now call ‘dibs’ on targets they’ve spotted first.

  • Spotter Training now provides +1 XP per Bug
  • Increased Spotter Training Scan duration from 10 seconds → 20 seconds

Support XP Tuning

To encourage more participation in less-than-glamorous aspects of warfare, the Mobile Infantry command has elected to provide additional compensation for the most common support tasks.

  • Increased XP of 'Rearmed Ally' from 10 XP → 25 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Resupplied Ally' from 5 XP → 25 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Rearmed Turret' from 5 XP → 15 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Repair' from 2 XP per 3 seconds → 5 XP per second
  • Increased XP of 'Repair' with Powered-Up Build-Tool from 4 XP per 3 seconds → 10 XP per second
  • Increased XP of 'Reinforce' from 1 XP per 3 seconds → 10 XP per second
  • Increased XP of 'Overcharge' from 5 XP → 25 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Heal Ally' with First-aid Stims from 5 XP → 10 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Heal Ally' with First-aid Darts from 2 XP → 5 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Revived Ally' & 'Revived' from 10 XP → 25 XP
  • Increased XP of 'Paid Respects' from 5 XP → 50 XP
  • Increased XP of 'I'm doing my part!' from 10 XP → 50 XP
  • Increased XP of 'I'm on FedNet News' from 5 XP → 50 XP

Arachnid Tuning

Bombardiers

A ten-fold increase in Trooper cojones will allow the deft (and daft) to surgically disable a Bombardier before they can explode. A swift knife strike to their nerve stem will disarm a Bombardier, allowing the Trooper to escape their otherwise all-but-certain demise unharmed.

  • You can knife (Melee attack) a Bombardier to disarm and kill them without causing them to explode.

Known Issues

  • Scan Pulse doesn’t count the numbers of Scanned bugs correctly.
  • Tankers can still be distracted by Lure Grenades & Nuclear Det Packs.
  • The friends list is not showing up for Epic Store users; you can use companies to join games.

Highlights

  • Fixed a number of issues that caused permanent Notifications to appear in the Loadout Customization and Loadout Select screens.
    • NOTE: If you already had a stuck Notification, you will need to manually clear your Notifications; see ‘Quality of Life – Clear Notification Badges’ in the Patch Notes above for more details.
  • Fixed various issues with weapon audio, such as automatic weapons playing extra shots when shot once, underbarrel weapons shooting in full auto and other fixes.
  • Fixed an issue where loadouts would sometimes get reset for Xbox users.

UI

  • Fixed a typo in the mission briefing for S.O.G. Mission 29
  • Fixed a localization issue in the Re-Enlist popup.
  • Fixed Squad names not being properly capitalized in all localizations.
  • Fixed an issue where the Sparta Extraction Ship icon appears far above the ship, making it seem like it's on another floor.
  • Fixed an issue where a notification badge appears on the loadout tab and cannot be cleared when earning Global Perks.
  • Elite Royal Guards are now tracked in profile stats

Audio

  • Fixed an issue where Epulse weapon firing audio would continue even when out of ammo.
  • Fixed an issue where the Morita II with the Full Auto Modification will play an additional firing SFX when the trigger is released.
  • Fixed an issue where the Underbarrel Shotgun when viewed in 3rd person does not play the last shot.
  • The final shot of shotguns should now play their respective SFX.

Art & Animation

  • Fixed an issue where equipping the Olive Visor cosmetic will show the default or last hovered skin cosmetic.
  • Fixed the Chi-Hong Grenade Launcher third person reload animation disconnects the weapons from the players hands.
  • Fixed a visual seam on Agni Prime.
  • Fixed the back face of the mesh exposed in the upper mesa on Valaka Critical Strike.
  • Fixed imprecise meshes along bug arena on Valaka Critical Strike.
  • Fixed Z-fighting north of CGV on Valaka.
  • Fixed some floating lights on the Sparta AAS Middle Deck.
  • Fixed one of the crystals not having collision on Agni Prime Critical Strike.
  • Fixed an imprecise collision on stone slope near north objective zone on Agni Prime Critical Strike.
  • Fixed Sparta Decals painting on to nearby troopers
  • Fixed preplaced door structures on Horde missions on Sparta not aligning with the grid.
  • Removed the glowing claw on the "Don't Bugs, Open Inside" set decoration.

Gameplay & General Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with Bombardier corpses with the Hard Shells mutator permanently hanging around, never going to sleep (physics optimization), and becoming unable to be cleared. Bombardier corpses will now automatically fade out after a short duration.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Napalm from setting Troopers on fire.
  • Fixed an issue where players could not complete the “Escort Engineers Under Fire” objective in S.O.G. Mission 31
  • Fixed an issue where the first loadout slot gets set to default.
  • Fixed an issue causing First Aid Stims to not apply if players move too quickly or get hit mid use.
  • Fixed an issue where the Plasma Launcher Underbarrel would receive extra ammo if the user was downed mid charge.
  • Fixed an issue where players appeared to fire the underbarrel shotgun in full auto while viewed in 3rd person.
  • Fixed an issue where the Scan Pulse uses 2 charges on activation.
  • Fixed an issue where bots have two HUD markers displayed when the player is nearby during a S.O.G. missions.
  • Fixed an issue where multiple troopers with the Phalanx Formation perk will remove the buffs for everyone if formation is broken.
  • Fixed an issue where weapons are not equipped after placing a nuke in Hive Hunt.
  • Fixed an issue where Players are unable to detonate Thermo Charges they placed before dying.
  • Pilum Rockets should now deal the correct amount of damage.
  • Fixed a M.I. Cache hidden inside the ground at Squad 1 spawn on Agni Prime Critical Strike.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause FPS drops when looking at smoke signals or Federation flags on Boreas.
  • Fixed an issue where players would spawn at the dropship even when players built a FOB in Hivehunt. There is still an issue with FOBs automatically placed when objective is complete.
  • Fixed an issue where the Flamethrower would not damage the back half of Tanker bugs.
  • Fixed an issue where lights sometimes shut off as you pass through corridors on Sparta with multiple players or bots.
